Comrades Beverages was founded in 2020 with a vision to transform Zimbabwe’s spirits industry through innovation and authenticity. The journey began with experimenting across various spirits, before the company refined its focus to create premium, story-rich gins that celebrate heritage and craftsmanship. Today, Comrades Beverages proudly produces two distinct gin brands, Matobo African Gin and Kalahari Gin, each inspired by the spirit of Africa and crafted to global standards.

Founded by a PhD-qualified chemical engineer from Wits University, who also lectures at NUST, Comrades Beverages blends scientific precision with cultural pride. Beyond gin-making, the company runs the annual Matobo Gin Festival, a vibrant celebration of culture, animal conservation, and community. At its heart, Comrades Beverages is a youth-driven brand dedicated to building a lasting legacy rooted in African heritage, innovation, and connection.

Matobo African Gin is the flagship brand of Comrades Beverages. A proudly Zimbabwean, premium craft gin inspired by the beauty, heritage, and spirit of the Matobo Hills. Carefully distilled with locally sourced botanicals, it captures the essence of Africa in every sip, blending tradition with innovation to create a world-class spirit. Matobo African Gin is available at Liquor Supplies Shops (Bulawayo), Liquorama (Victoria Falls), and Liquor Stop (Bulawayo).

Kalahari gin

Designed to pair perfectly with tonic for refreshing cocktails, it offers great taste and quality at an affordable price.
